And I thought the "HEAT" was in Miami....

Shopping, Assembling, Checking Apartments....

Public Market in Cogeo, Rizal

Love the sign behind all the street vendors!

Busy little place, isn't it?  It feels like all 97 million are always just where we are!
Supplying insect killer!
Putting together just one of seven fans!
Leaving treats for clean apartments!

TATAY TONY'S PROJECT
Elder and Sister Johnson with Tatay Tony.

This used to be a two story home before it was destroyed.
Tony rebuilt it to this with just the scraps that were left.

Inside the house with partitioned off CR.

The "see through" roof with nickle sized leaks everywhere!

Tony's bamboo bed is right under here.  Imagine when it storms.

The linoleum used in this siding is more like a vinyl tablecloth.  Everything here is inferior quality so that the people can afford it.

Ladder now to no-where...
top of house was ruined.
We are hoping to plywood the sides and foam up the holes in the roof and add a floor.
Wouldn't it be great to paint it and add some much needed supplies?

 Halo-Halo Festival

Rice in large bowl

B.Y.O.R.  Bring your own rice and whatever you want on it.  (I made that up, but that is what they bring to every meal)
Rice in plastic pan.

Rice with a little something-something on the side.

RICE WITH CHICKEN FEET!   YUM

Missionaries all around at the Halo-Halo party.

Rice with ULAM...smashing rice with hands (bottom left)  Elder Merrill on the right reading scriptures.

Little boys trying to knock down a mango
or two.

These are Indian Mangos.
There are three
 different types of mangos here.

The beginning of HALO-HALO...
which literally means "Mix-Mix"
Restaurants add the ice first then decorate the top with fruits and toppings.
The Branch did it the most efficient way to handle 100 people.
Take a cup and add:
sweetened red beans
sweetened saba bananas
sweetened kamote

sweetened jackfruit
sweetened kaong
cooked sago
leche flan
pinipig
macapuno
nata de coco
jellied something?
sugar
Ube ice cream

 Put crushed or shaved ice
in cup...

Open cans of evaporated milk with
blade for a knife....

Pour milk over ice...

Mix-Mix!
Eat-Eat!
Yum-Yum!

 Delicious Halo-Halo Summer Treat!

Kids, and, well everyone loving it!

 MISSIONARIES

Teresa Branch Missionaries L-R:  Elder Tizon (brand new), Elder Asok, Elder Ebro
and Elder Merrill
Then they also have this OLD couple!

Elder Asok's Birthday Celebration!
Starting to cry the minute he opened the door...

It was such a joy to bless this young man's life....even with just a simple birthday celebration!

Rafael Pacheco

Elder and Sister Jardine with us and Rafael Pacheco

Beautiful entrance into his resort and art foundation.

SOME OF HIS FAMOUS ARTWORK

He finger paints and palm paints these pictures.

He also uses some compressed air to get the paint to spread out

He is famous for his sea life pictures.

We don't know how he does these with his fingers, but he does.

He carved this door that leads to his sleeping area.
This is a painting of his resort notice just how well it compares to the actual pictures below!
The statues etc. he sculpted as well.  Just imagine....finger painting!

HIS RESORT AREA

All the statues are eroding and broken off their bases.
Revelations 22:1

Absolutely stunning views regardless of the erosion of building.
Bases that once held beautiful sculpted figures.
Cascading  waterfall and pool totally green with algae.

Crevices, green pools sprinkling down to lower pools.

Bridges leading to grand views.

We were wondering what it looks like in the rainy season...will it help clean out the water???

(Service Project)

19 of us Missionaries and a couple of people from the Branch

Sister Jardine, Elder Asok and Tizon sweeping one of the many terraces.

Straightening stack of artwork, cleaning off teaching deck...

Sister Sikotilani and Elder Mejos

Scrubbing staircases, burning trash.
Yard work galore.

Removing silt and mud from fountain bed.

Sisters Johnson, Tardio and Avila

An eroding and fallen
sculpture of a head.

Same man fishing with four poles and lines in the water.

His feet are holding all of the rods on the left.

Side view...
Another eroded statue used as a drying rack for shorts.

When we got there these house-help people were making these colored balls (looked like play-doh) but made out of rice, of course, but had the texture of play-doh.

Little did we know that would be our lunch.  A hot purple soup, with potato chunks, strips of young coconut, the balls they were making and some red jelly type balls which look a lot like caviar but were sweet.

After about two spoonfuls, I decided cold water was all I needed!

Looks like I'm showing up more and more!
